With the season winding down it is time to give you my All-NBA selections.

My take on the 65 game rule

First, I want to talk about the 65 game rule and why I don’t like it. I do think it has helped with load management but it takes away from players' great seasons. Luka Doncic played 64 games and isn’t eligible, Anthony Edwards played 60 and Cade Cunningham played 61. These guys should make All-NBA and they won’t because of these rules and it just feels unnecessary. However, it doesn’t sound like it is going away any time soon.

Now, let’s get into the teams.

First Team

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

SGA has had a remarkable season and has improved from a season ago. 31.3 points, 6.5 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game, he is the best player in the league. In the clutch, Shai has been unbelievable as well with 175 clutch points this season shooting 51.5%. He should be the run away Clutch Player of the Year and would be my MVP vote.

Victor Wembanyama

I am just going to assume (and hope) that Victor Wembanyama’s bruised ribs aren’t too bad and he will be eligible for awards. This dude is going to be the best player in the league one day and his impact on both sides of the floor deserves to be rewarded with All-NBA first team, an MVP finalist spot, Defensive Player of the Year and All-Defensive first team.

Nikola Jokic

The Joker has cooled down since he got hurt in December but he has still had a fantastic season and he leads the Nuggets into the playoffs as one of the threats to win the title. There are a lot of seasons where Jokic would win the MVP running away but this field is very crowded and he likely won’t win it but that doesn’t take away from how remarkable Jokic had been.

Jaylen Brown

The season Jaylen Brown has had is remarkable. He has become one of the 10 best players in the league and is having a season that is putting him in the MVP conversation, even if he isn’t a serious candidate. The way he elevated the Celtics allowing for the return of Jayson Tatum gives the Celtics a legit chance to win the title.

Kawhi Leonard

Kawhi Leonard is having one of the best seasons of his career, averaging 28.1 points per game along with 6.3 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game. Leonard has been remarkable in turning the Clippers season around after the 6-21 start. He may not be eligible (he is on track to be eligible but still has to play 2 more games) but assuming he is, Kawhi Leonard should be a lock to make All-NBA.

Second Team

Donovan Mitchell

The Cavaliers have been very up and down this season, Donovan Mitchell has not. Last season the numbers did not resemble the impact he had, this year they have. Averaging 27.8 points and 5.7 assists per game, Mitchell has given Cleveland a chance to win the Eastern Conference.

Jamal Murray

Murray is having the best season of his career and kept Denver afloat when Jokic missed a month of the season. Averaging career highs in points (25.4), assists (7.2) and rebounds (4.4), Murray is having a monster season and will be an All-NBA player.

Tyrese Maxey

Tyrese Maxey has kept the 76ers afloat in a season where Joel Embiid has been in and out of the lineup, where Paul George was suspended 25 games and where Jared McCain was traded. He has been unbelievable, scoring 28.4 points per game this season.

Jalen Brunson

Brunson is one of the best players in the league and has had another great season. Averaging 26.0 points per game, Brunson isn’t shooting the ball as well as he did a season ago but he has still been excellent in Mike Brown’s first season. He has the Knicks in great position to make another deep run in the playoffs.

Jalen Duren

The Jalen Duren breakout has been magnificent to watch and he is a Most Improved Player candidate. Averaging 19.5 points and 10.9 rebounds per game, Duren (along with Daniss Jenkins) has kept the Pistons in the one seed with Cade Cunningham out.

Third Team

Kevin Durant

KD has had another exceptional season. Averaging 25.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game, the Rockets have had an up and down season but they are starting to turn on the up swing and a Lakers draw in round 1 has them in a great spot to make the 2nd round.

Jalen Johnson

Johnson was my preseason Most Improved Player pick and though he won’t win the award, an All-NBA spot is a good consolation prize. He has 13 triple-doubles this season and is averaging 22.7 points, 10.3 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game while the Hawks have just completely turned their season around. They won’t be a fun team to play in the first round.

Chet Holmgren

With Luka Doncic likely ineligible, there are 13 locks with Holmgren being the last of them. He is having a pretty typical Chet Holmgren season in terms of his numbers but he has been healthy this season along with his monster defensive impact, Holmgren should be a lock to make All-NBA.

Bam Adebayo

The shooting splits are pretty bad and are the reason Bam probably won’t make All-NBA but in a season where Tyler Herro and Norman Powell have missed time, Bam had kept the Heat afloat. Averaging 20 points and 10 boards per game with elite defense, Adebayo is having an awesome season and I think should be an All-NBA player.

Scottie Barnes

If you look at the numbers, Scottie Barnes is having a typical Scottie Barnes season (he is scoring less than in years past) and probably would not make it if not for this 65 game rule. However, the two way ability is what gets him on the list. He is Toronto's best defender while being asked to be the number 1 or 2 option on offense. That is why he made my ballot.
